Another year has come and gone - and this one was the fastest, most enjoyable one of my life so far. Happy New Year, friends. Along with a happy year, I wish you a productive, fruitful, success-filled (in love, travel, wealth, business - whatever you want) year. January is often hard for many people - the anti-climatic return to daily life after a busy holiday season is always difficult. For freelancers, it is the uncertainty of the next job or paycheck. I have found that reading new books and magazines, browsing Pinterest and reading some of my favourite blogs (this one! and this one! and don’t forget this one!) is the best way to get reinvigorated and inspired for a new year. Before you know it, it will be June so these next six months might as well be worth something. I’ve definitely set some goals for myself this year in all aspects of my life but I’ve only made one definite resolution:
Live Freely.
This doesn’t mean that I will just be “doing whatever I want, whenever I want” - I see the phrase meaning that I won’t be tied down to whatever absurd expectations I’ve set for myself in the past. I’ve often blamed “society” for these expectations but I’ve come to realize that the only thing that can hold me back from the greatness I desire, is myself. To Live Freely, means to me, to enjoy life with reckless abandon and love love love hard; to delve into every single passion project with gumption, strength and creativity; to ignore the negative of this world (#1: STOP reading the hateful comments on news articles!) and to thrive and nurture all of the wonderful positivity that surrounds us all.
This year, I feel like my head and heart will be mostly focused on our home as it has become such a lively and happy place thanks to our Jack. I found a few inspiring images today that I hope will inspire you as well. Love all of those sharp pops of black. Back to daydreaming about unattainable homes… 😉 HNY!
