BIRCHBOX IN CALGARY

One fine Monday evening, beauty lovers from across the city descended upon the exquisite (and award-winning!) Calgary eaterie known as Pigeonhole. We were all there to learn more about the beloved beauty box subscription, Birchbox. Hosted by my friend, style blogger AniaB, this influencer dinner was centered around getting to know this great brand and the fabulous products that are literally at our fingertips each month.

The concept is simple: Birchbox is a monthly subscription box focusing solely on seriously awesome beauty products. When you sign up, you fill out your personal preferences (things like curly hair and dry skin) and each month you will receive a different box based on your profile. The beauty (ha!) of it all? You’ll never get the same thing twice - which is a huge plus if you like to try new things all of the time like I do. And also, once you find your new favourite thing you can actually buy the full size version right from their online shop. I am all about convenience so a service that caters to me to this level is huge in my books.

At the event, we received the December box. Of course, we could all hardly wait to dig and play with the goodies. And luckily, the box came with a variety of different cosmetics and only one I previously tried before. I am currently obsessing over the Juara Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm - Calgary is so dry this time of year that I am finding I need to moisturize like twenty times a day (seriously not exaggerating). The scent of this balm is sweet but not overwhelming or saccharine. Another instant favourite in the box is the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I love using dry shampoo and I am always trying to avoid washing my hair as long as possible. Three days is usually my max but I can stretch it out to five if my week is looking pretty casual. I love the scent of this particular dry shampoo; the bottle tells me it is Sea Buckthorn Berry. Yum.

I am already a huge fan of the bkr glass water bottle - I bought a couple a few years ago and what a difference they make in cutting down on plastic water bottle waste. Plus, it is super cute - whatever it takes to get more water in me throughout the day. If only coffee was as hydrating!

If you have someone in your life that loves trying out new cosmetics, this is a fabulous gift idea! You can chose from a number of gifting options from 3 -12 months depending on your budget and level of commitment. The best part is that it is the gift that keeps on giving - who doesn’t love receiving parcels in the mail?!
